It had a gripping plot, and i just loved the way the characters of vinay, sophia and Surdas have been portrayed... I wonder if this world will allow a 'Surdas' to live amongst them... Perhaps no.. he is best only to be a fictitious character.

Rangabumi is set in 1920's... and now i am reading Somerset Maugham's 'Of Human Bondage' which is also set in the 1920's..

Same Era, Two different stories, in two different world's = Reader's Delight!

I start reading only when I get a week off or so... Why?

What a forgettable night it was.. Chasing 150 odd runs, the tournament favorites succumbed to pressure, stumbled against short-pitch bowling, and were stumped out of the tournament.. Sometimes, it's not the match loss that hurts, it's the way a team loses that hurts so badly...

The team required 15 from 3 balls, with Yusuf on Strike.. He hits a straight six, and it comes down to 9 from 2 balls..

Yusuf slogs the next ball, but it's all along the ground, and dhoni doesn't take the second run.. which means india needs to get 8 from 1 ball.. Now this is what has irritated many of the fans... If dhoni had taken that extra run, it would have been 7 runs from 1, and if theoritically we are still in the game... His mind had conceded defeat already!

Dhoni might be bombarded with many such questions from media, it might be difficult to answer each and every question... But I hope he remembers that

"Real Glory is not in never falling,
but it is at every rise, when you fall"

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://skely.blogspot.com/2009/06/why-why.html' title='Why? Personally, for me the best months of the year have started.. Walks during the rainy days, with earth smelling at her best,(read earth as parks and not roads which is full of garbage and running drains) fresh greens all over..

<t> I am absolutely excited, and hope to make a few trips to the GREEN World. As a tribute to the season, it's all green in my blog, and apologies if it's hard to read through..

<t> As much as I like GREEN now, I hated it the most for a week, when I was having a native Green Leaf called "Keeranalli" to cure Jaundice. It's the bitterest stuff, I had ever eaten. Thanks to this Jaundice, I had a month off from work, watched all IPL matches :), read "My Experiments with Truth By M.K.Gandhi" (I wanted to read this book for some ages now),slept slept and just slept.

<t> I recommend people to read "My Experiments with Truth". It doesn't matter if you believe in his principles or not, one can read it as a novel. First thing is that it is not about "Indian Independence", it's about Mr. M.K.Gandhi's Child hood, and his life in South Africa. I was pretty impressed with a few of his methodoligies.. And what a coincidence that I was reading about his life in South Africa, and watching IPL matches, that were held in SA. :)

Well there is plenty more nonsense to write, so hope fill the pages regularly..

Cheers and Ensoy Maadi!

It happens only with me!!!!

This article, was in my drafts section for a very long time (since 10/17/06), so let me publish it right away...

"It was on a sleepy working late night (a month or two ago), when I received a mail from the Training department on the list of trainings available for the next 2-3 calendar months.. I was fed up with work, and I decided to take a break by attending a 4-day training program. I opted for "advanced shell scripting", and was duly approved my manager the following day..

A month later, I had completely forgotten about the training, and I received a mail from the Training Department, with the Class Id of the Training, location of the training etc.. It was a product release weekend @ office for me, and I was happy that I will away from work the following week...

On the following Monday,I managed to reach the training room just in time, and as I entered the room, i realized it was not a computer ab but a conference room.. Was wondering how would one teach shell scripting in a conference room.. and then there were some pretty old people sitting in the room, and the title "Project Management Professional" was mentioned in the projector slide... I thought I might have entered a wrong training room, but didn't was to interrupt the trainer as he was giving an introductory speech. ( I had already interrupted him once, as I entered that room). During his speech, he had mentioned all our names, (as he done some background work),and only then did i realize some goof up had happened.
Well it was too late, and I didn't want to let everyone know about my mistake, and I decided to happily attend the training. I was the only non-managerial person in that room, and people were inquisitive on how I was attending this training (As it was meant only for managers/Project Leads).. Well, I told them, that I was to be promoted in the next cycle, and my manager felt that I need to get some training on managerial aspects..:) It was a fun-filled training for me, there were some business cases, and some worksheets etc. I used my own wits to solve the business problems, only to later know that they were all PMP'ly wrong solutions. I really wonder if any of the managers I have seen really approach the problem in a PMP way... Whatever, all I know is that I am definitely not the managerial(Applicable only to Software Industry) material...

Looking back, all I can do now is smile/laugh at myself!

There are days...

There are days, when you scream to the world,
Then there are days, when you want to be left alone,

There are days, when you are buzzing with activity,
Then there are days, when you are dead lazy,

There are days, when you want to meet people very badly,
Then there are days, when you avoid them,

There are days, when you want to try something different,
Then there are days, you are happy with the routine stuffs,

There are days, when you want to change the world,
Then there are days, when the world changes you,

There are days, when you feel that relationships are forever,
Then there are days, when you realize that relationships do sink,

There are days, when you want to write something,
Then there are days, when you just want to read something,

As seconds,minutes,hours,days passes by,
as the thoughts changes by,

you realize that, life is just one's perception,
so, do what you want to do!

Happy Season!

Happy Diwali, Eid Mubarak, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Makra Shankranthi/Pongal , Republic Day etc... And this has been the case always with me, especially when it comes to feeding off energy from Sportsmen.. I am mostly engrossed in any sport i watch/play.. I feel great if the person/team whom I want to win, do win it, and feel miserable, if the result was otherwise.
I have been following cricket, since my childhood.. I used to maintain a scorecard, for the matches that were shown in Doordarshan, and the scorecard book(don't remember who gifted me), was my most cherished gift for years to come.. I was a very average player, but just the feeling of getting into the ground is wonderful! I still remember how good i felt going in as the No.10 Batsman (and lasted only 2 deliveries) in my college.
My brother, 3 years younger, is my arch rival, in any sport.. We would play non-stop, and hate losing to each other! That made the contest special and spicy. . And we like teaming up with each other, and defeat others..
I also had a couple of childhood friends, who were sport enthusiasts as I was, and some were extraordinary players, and I wonder why they didn't pursue the game to the next level. I remember myself toiling in the hot sun, to get my friend out, while he batted the whole day.. That's the first time, I enjoyed even while losing(and the beginning of the many such defeats), only raring to defeat him in the next time. We still have sporting duels, and just playing against such people, gives you a sense of satisfaction.
Whatever the time it would be, I can easily pass my time watching any sport or imagining myself playing any sport, and beating the best.
Well, I wonder as you folks wonder, why i wrote this article --> Well that's because I feel good!

ps: India clinches the series 2-0 against Australia

You Coward!

If you believe in your cause, If you had the guts, and not scared of your life, go ahimsa way, or do anything apart from killing others.. It was a grueling 4 week one-day series, and they outplayed the Aussies at all departments including the Sledging one. I am so pleased, with the "Little Master" knocks in the final. They were a delight to watch. Hope his critics would keep their mouth shut for a while. Atleast for his fans sake, I hope he continues to play for another 3-4 years and provide us this entertainment.

Kudos to my stomach, for holding up six straight weeks. I have been on a traveling spree over the last consecutive 6 weeks, and I have enjoyed each and every travel to it's fullest. A couple of travelogues would definitely follow :). It's really wonderful to experience the cultural diversities, varied landscapes, extreme weather conditions, people's psyche etc, of our country all in such a short time period. One should bother about money, but when their hobby too is also on money...... ..... ....... ......

the fight to grab stuffs has begun, water is now a paid commodity, so is electricity, so is land, so would be the "air" we breathe freely today.. but one in the hurry to amass wealth, to be able to buy the breathing air for the future, has forgotten to breathe presently!!!!

time is also money! so let me make use of the present time by having a short happy nap, after delivering this uncalled gyan article:)

Ho Ho!!!

It's 2:30 AM right now, and I wouldn't get any sleep if I do not blog about the movie i just watched.. And what a relief it is, to speak about something apart from the stock market!!!

Though watching it alone, I was totally engrossed in the movie, and I simply like the character of Kareena Kapoor in this movie.. Absolute non-stop nonsense, an ultimate cartoon, call it whatever, one would definitely fall in love with her character.. (Well atleast I did ;). Shahid Kapur, has definitely shown that he too could act.. ( I still think he was far far better in that Aryan Album Song), and I would give a big thumbs up for the music. I was laughing the entire first half, and perhaps the reason for being pretty energetic at this hour...

What an exciting week to look forward, firstly the India-Aus Adelaide Test Match, and then the final leg of the Australian Open...

Wow! This is the famous dialogue Koundamani(Private Agent) delivers to Senthil (RTO Officer) in the movie "Indian". I used to feel that the RTO Corruption they had shown in the movie was a bit exaturated, but not any more...

Today was the day I had to take the DL test.. The Driving Training School, did not ask me for extra money to bribe the officer..and I didn't want to do it too.. (Had been practising to reverse the car, changing gears quickly etc pretty intensely yesterday). We(other prospective road killers) reached the park (test centre), and our agent asked us to stand in a line.. And all of a sudden he shouted 'Good Morning AAAfffficerrrr!!!' and the worst was he expected us to greet the "Aafficer" too. The AAAffficer asked us to drive the vehicle for mere 300 metres which involved the following activities..

(i) start the car
(ii) Shift the gear to second gear from the first
(iii) Take a left turn, and stop the car.

that's it, my DL Test was completed successfully.. Little did i realize that I had bribed him 6 months ago, when I joined the Driving School itself...

anyways, I have my DL now.. started planning for the weekend trips... at this junction i just need to thank a couple of people who have motivated me get this..
aki, who ensured that i got a LLR last year, and guru along with him for torturing me, every single morning on the fact that my LLR got expired and i showed no interest to get it re-newed nor appearing for the test, and finally chells who ensured that I too bought the car along with him.. :)

i need to thank you guys for increasing my average monthly expense.. anyways, i have started to enjoy my driving, it is no more a burden or an additonal skill rather... this seems to be a good hobby...

another step up.. :)

she....

When I first saw her I was stunned,
when she first spoke to me, I was stumped,

We went for a short ride,
then, she was forever on my side,

all saw only problems in her,
I only saw the potential in her,

unhappy, they still point out issues,
but in love, i treat them as tissues,

when she starts behaving herself, she is poetic,
but when she is heated up, handling her is pretty hectic,

engagement was last week, marriage is next week,
but our honeymoon has started this week,

if you have already seen us, thanks for your wishes,
if you haven't, pray to god, that we don't bump into you..

Tagged - 8 -things about me...

Tagged by Biju..

Biju thanks for making me realize that I don't have any funny habits..

(i) I ensure that I go to the Railway station or/and Bus Stand of each and every city I visit. And If possible have the special food delicacy from the Railway Canteen. - "Curd Rice".
(ii) My sleep posture is either in form of the alphabet "C" or"G". And I generally never remember anything that happens during my sleep. I would have opened my house door, answered phone calls, but if you ask me any of these after I get up, wouldn't remember a single thing..
(iii) I can speak non-stop on anything, when on a highly excited state. (ofcourse , I am speaking about the non-alcoholic state)
(iv) When I am bored, I just board the bus, buy a daily pass and keep travelling..As I have mentioned earlier, I am pretty eager at visiting bus stations.. I would be thinking on various stuffs, but generally it's the same old story of me playing cricket and winning the match by either scoring some 20 odd runs of the last over or by bowling in the death overs, and scalping some 3-4 wickets.. Only the venue and the players I play against would change..
(v) When I am in a nervous state, I just cannot sleep.. Be it a presentation the next day or an university exam or anything... Once the event is over, I can sleep continuosly for 20 - odd hours.. My all time record being, not sleeping for 48 hours before the exam, and sleeping contiuosly for 24 hours after the exam.
(vi) I keep changing the bed spreads. It would always reflect my mood of that hour.. Dull, bright, dirty, extra clean etc..
(vii) I always prefer to have a bath when I feel like, and not on every morning compulsion.
(viii)When irritated with myself or others, I go for long walks till my legs ache, and then I catch the bus or an auto to return back home..

Now tagging the rest, chells , ck , cp'da , dumbo devi , gandhe, k, prof, sudar and tuby

What a bore!!!

Thank God it's over. The most anticipated event in the cricketing world, was such a bore, that I felt lucky that I did not get tickets to the carribean. Only 4 matches headed for a close finish in a total of 51 games. That shows the quality of the matches... This tournament was completely one-sided, and the aussies were not tested at all.

Hussey, Symonds did not have to bat during any pressure situations, and even worst, hogg, tait, mcgrath and bracken didn't have a chance to bat at all... Australian batting Butchers and the bowling machines fired as expected...

WestIndies played with no passion, SA concentrated on motivating themselves through verbal duesl with others, England was pathetic, NZ just couldn't themselves when it mattered, SL showed some fighting spirit, Bangladesh are moulding themselves to be like SL, and the only refreshing thing in the WC was the way Ireland played. It was so good to watch them bowl.

No comments on Pakistan and India.. I am sure this WC would have ensured, that many fans would have bid farewell to Cricket itself..

What a bore!!!

A Leaf on the torrent.....

At a Macro Level, nothing matters,
At a Micro Level, everything matters,

One can be at any Level,
but it's the oscillation between these levels that makes you think...

:)

Sources: Few worthwhile Conversations with people, and Mr. RK Narayanan.

FGF...

Wow!!! It is at this match when the Duckword-Lewis Method became very famous.
1992 ---- Pak vs NZ. A young lanky lad called 'Inzy' stole the match away from the tournament
favourites NZ.
1996 ---- Pressure, Bad Luck, call it whatever, WZ lost the match in the last few minutes of the
closing stages to Australia.. What a match it was!!!
1996 ---- Ind Vs SL. Well it wasn't exactly a close match, but it was dramatic with the crowd
playing a part in deciding the winner.
1999 ---- Aus vs SA.. Termed as the "Match of the millenium" by many... It was indeed
heartbreaking for the SA..
2003 ---- Aus vs SL. Some lusty blows from Bret Lee at the end of the innings set the match for
Aus.

And now it's time to stage the 2007 WC semis...
Arguebly the four best teams in WC had qualified to the Semis. The stage was set for a grand WC final rounds.

But... NewZealand and SouthAfrica had other plans... They both haven't won a WC yet or rather haven't even qualified to the finals yet.. They both wanted to create history and they at the end did create it...

What a one-sided game both were... Rather than stating that SL and Aus won, I would say, NZ and SA gifted the match to their opponents...

I just hope that the final wouldn't be one-sided...

Who is the one-day Champion? Ever since India is out of the WC, I am enjoying the rest of the matches...

After some 3o odd days of cricket, we have 4 teams for the semis now.. So far, I have got all my predictions wrong. :) So, not planning to predict any furthur.. :(

1st Match: NZ vs SL:
If SL bats first, and scores around 230, we would have an amazing match in out hands...

Interesting duels to watch out for.

(i) Shane Bond vs Sanath Jayasurya
(ii) Muralidharan vs Jacab Oram
(iii) Malinga vs Ross Taylor

2nd Match: Aus vs SA:

I hate both these teams, so would just hope this match would be thriller, and not one-sided.. I feel these guys play the game very professionally, but without any passion.

(i) Australian Buthcers vs SA Bowling Machine
(ii) SA Butchers vs Australian Bowling Machine

On another cricketing Note, Wishing our "Little Master", a very happy birthday... I am sure, he will be back with a bang!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://skely.blogspot.com/2007/04/who-is-one-day-champion-countdown.html' title='Who is the one-day Champion? Tring Tring.. tringtringtringtringtringtringtring...

Oh crap!!! The alarm was ringing, and it brought my dream to an abrupt end. The time was 4 AM, and my Shatabdi train to chennai, was scheduled to depart from Bangalore City Junction at 6 AM, and hence I decided to have a short nap,and planned to catch the 5 '0' clock BMTC bus to Majestic.

allllllah ohhhhhh akbaaarrrrrrr...... (I live close by a mosque, and the prayers had just begun.)

What'sss the time??????? It was 5:28... Oh no.. I just have 32 mins, can I make it to the station.. I just went out, and asked my roomie, if he could drop me to the station in the bike, and he had just got up and wondering what was happening, and he really didn't know the route, so i decided to take an auto.. I was sure that i would miss it, but what's wrong in giving it a shot.. Efforts Never Fail..

I took my e-ticket, id-card ( last time I wasn't allowed to travel in Shatabdi, because I forgot to take my id-card along with me, and the TTE demanded to me pay the entire fare, which incidently I didn't have and hence did not board..)wallet, and just washed my faced and ran down the road.. It was 5:34...

An auto came by, and the driver was a pretty old man, and I thought he will never make it to the station by 6 AM, and hence waited for another auto to come by. another one came, and it's driver was a man in his mid 30's and he initially demanded half-my train ticket fare, and then we settled for the auto meter to give the final verdict on the fare. It was 5:38..

I told the autowala, that I had to catch the train in 20 minutes, and luckily he took it as a challenge and accelerated as much as he could, while I was guiding him on the shortest route he had to take.. He flew over the bumpers,pot-holes, and I felt bad that the auto was getting hit because of my stupidity/laziness. I remembered that Shadabti stops at Bangalore Cantontment too, or is it only the trains that go towards bangalore City Junction stops, and not the ones that leaves the City Junction.. I asked the autowala to wait for a second, and took some 5 seconds, and decided to go to the City Junction.. It was 5:42..

With the speed at with the autowala was going, I could caculate that he would reach the Railway Station(which is 13 kms from my place) in a whopping 20 mins, which means I would reach the station around 5:58, and I might just be able to catch the train. But when we reached near Lalbagh, a stupid TN bus, stopped the bus in the middle of the road(he could have stopped it on the bus-bay instead blocking the entire onward going vechicles.), and the passengers were getting down, and that wasted my 30 precious seconds.. It was 5:48..

I initially agreed to the auto driver that I would pay him 1.5 times the amount shown in the meter, and I decided to pay him twice the meter amount for his effort, and acknowledging the fact that if I was to ever catch the train, it would solely be only because of him.. Now the pressure was mounting, will I make it or not.. 10 minutes earlier I had no hope, but now anything could happen.. It was 5:52..

Now I was wondering as from platform will this train depart. History told me that it was platform 5, but I wasn't too sure, hence I had planned to ask a Porter( this would save some precious seconds from getting the same info from the Display system available at the station). I also planned to take the sub-way to platform 5 rather than the over-bridge as the sub-way would take me to departing end of the platform, and if ever the train was moving, it would come towards me, and i could just hop into the train. If i take the over-bridge then i would need to run behind the train.. It was 5:54..

The money was out from my wallet much before we reached the station, and as the auto reached the station, I gave him the money, and thanked him and told him that if ever I catch the train it would solely be due to him.. Even though I was in a hurry, those 5 seconds I took, made us both feel happy. It was 5:57..

I ran(for 500 metres) like a mad guy, shouting for people to give me way, and on the way I checked with the porter, and he told me Chennai Shatabdi was departing from platform 6. Now I was confused, hence decided to look at the Display System, which showed me that it was indeed departing from platform 6. It was 5:58..

hold on..............

But the clock on the station showed 6:00.. Crap!!!! and I heard the announcement of Shatabdi departing from platform 6 while I was stranded in platform 1. I made another mad rush towards the subway.. My heart was pounding very heavily.. Will I make it or not... I climbed up the stairs, and was in platform 6 now.... Forget the time, it no longer makes any sense.

dhak dhak... dhak dhak... dhak dhak...

As I climbed up, the train was moving, and I could only get to the last carriage, and I asked the Guard who was busy waving the green flag, whether it was the Shadabti train, and God knows what he heard, he pointed his finger towards platform 7, and my heart just sanked in immediate depression.. and as that train moved away, the guy next to me told me, the train which I just missed was indeed Chennai Shatabdi, and the Guard pointed towards platform 7, thinking I was asking for Jana-Shatabdi(which was scheduled to depart a few hours later...)

I was hoping that Mother EARTH would just swallow me, and was wondering where I wasted those precious 5 seconds..So close yet so far..

Happy New Year!!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful 2007...
phew... I hardly think these days.. my 2007 resolution should be to think...and only to think

3) join a sport club, and also search a bakra who would play squash with me everyday.

-- i didn't join any sport club, but i did find a few bakras @office, and I have been regularly playing TT..

4) i will invite my chotta cousins to bangalore and take them around the city.

-- my chotta cousins did come to bangalore, and we had some really good time.. only problem is that i relaized that they are no more chotta..:)

5) i should get back to my touring mania, this year i was out only for 10 days..
-- if i have done anything well in 2006, it is to do with my touring.. i have taken 8 mini trips to different places.

a) allepey, athirapalli falls and fort kochi
b) hampi
c) vijayawada
d) thaneer mukkam and kumarakom
e) langkawi and kuala lampur
f) goa
g) gokak falls
h) pondy

and not to forget the various places i visited during my friend's marriage and receptions..

well if you work hard, you have the right to take these small vacations.. surprisingly none of it has been a 5-day (or more) vacation.

6) Last but not least, i need to work on removing the negative/impure stuffs from me..
-- couldn't do much about it.. still the same..

2006 has seen me write 25 published posts and 5 saved drafts.. this is been pretty satisfying for me.. also have learnt a couple of new skills (dancing and driving).. read quite a lot of books.. i have moved to a new team effective today.. i have sensed a change in my mindset towards life..

hopefully 2007 will be a year filled with different other activities... :)

Once again wishing you guys a happy new year!!! and do the stuffs you would really love to do..

p.s: people often ask what's so great about a new year, it is just another day.. well when most of us feel good on a day for no real reason then why not just spread the happiness.. sometimes we shouldn't keep reasoning for each and every activity..

no comments....

When you work too hard, there is no time for anything....
When there is too much of time, there is nothing to work at....

When you have hit rock bottom, the only option available is, climbing up....
but it is the stay at the bottom that hurts....

You can keep wandering and wondering, as long and as much as one wants....
But you will be the same, unless ........

oh and all about me...

oh yeah.. long time since i gave an update on myself to you all..Well, where do I start them.. hmm..

I have got a new dell inspiron e1505 laptop, had gone to langkawi, goa recently, been attending all of my friends weddings/receptions, changing to a new team@office very soon, being depressed on indian team's performance, lost contact with most of you guys :(, all my weekends till this year end are booked with some action (hurrah...), did parasailing and banana boat ride for the first time, learning to drive a four-wheeler now, read(ing) quite a few books, had a short stint with ORKUT(I quit, because it is a stupid idea.. but i might change this stance any time..)absolutely, no interest in work, the advanced salsa classes too are over :(, participated in a Chess tournament and
last but not least being sleeping ateast 12 hrs in the day on a average..

As my friends say, ain't I a big Show OFF!!! This was the news I was watching an hour back.. Absolutely stupid..
The MP's who spoke about this as well as the news channel which was creating a hype on this.. These journalists, were pressing a few politicians to comment on the Indian Cricket Team.. When one particular politician replied that "Cricket, hockey etc.. are all just sports, winning and losing are part of the game.." The journalist furthur pressed on the stating politician, stating how long can the nation take the defeat..What can he/she reply? Absolute Crap!!!

Why can't these journalists, list out the tasks carried by each and every MP in the country in the last 1 year, and ask them questions on that? These MP's should have quartely report cards, and if they fail in 3 successive quarters, they should be disqualified, and election for that place should be re-held.

Even better masala was created based on Yuvi's statement, that he and the Team have decided not to give any interviews to XXXX Network, as the XXXX only criticize the Team, and never encourage them.. The XXXX network, telecasted this statement a number of times to gain cheap publicity..

The current media are just waiting for an oppurtunity to make/hype/create any news.. Can't these put up some fight..this is just unbelivable... chasing 250, aussies are 110/1 in 14 overs, and i really wonder, whether wee have the stomach to fight it out, or is it just that we are playing against a superior team... Why do we lack that killer instinct..

hold on..

why do i blame the indian team for? West Indies were through to the finals, and it was a do or die game for the other two. from 116/6, the aussies pushed it to 213 (thanks mainly to hadden, who hit 4 straight sixes of the part-timers), which was not that big a total on that small ground...

all that was required from the indians was some sensible batting.. with aussies playing just 3 front-line pace bowlers, indians jus needed to play-off the first 20-overs, keep the wickets in hand and then it would have been a very easy task.. but instead, Lee and clark (who was thrashed for 80 odd runs in 7 overs by the WI) broke the backbone of the Indian team, and left India hoping at 50/4.

raina and dhoni managed to put on some partnerships with mongia, and we we just 50-odd runs away from victory when dhoni threw his wicket away.. then the in-sensible mongia just rotated the strike to the bowlers, and exposing them to the likes off lee and mcgrath.. someone needs on put somthing inside mongia's head on this issue, as he will be in this team for the next series, based on this one-off performance...

all in all only one thing happened.. these Chokers have spoiled the mood of the many Indian fans.

right or wrong?

What was right yesterday is wrong today,
What was wrong yesterday is right today...

So, what is right till today, maynot be right forever.. I was surprised at it, as my mother tongue(MT) was different, and the fact is that "people can think well and grasp well only in their mother tongue (MT)"..

When I made a conscious effort to think in my MT, I wasn't able to concentrate, and the thought of me not able to concentrate on anything in my MT, was in Tamil.. So was I always thinking in Tamil?

No...I was thinking in various languages, MT,Hindi,English and Tamil.. The thought language depends on the environment, as well as the topic I was thinking about and not always in MT.

Known Fact: "One can grasp things easily in their MT".
I really wonder in which language will a child of a surrogate Mom, think... Will it think in the native language of the "ovary donor mom" or that of the surrogate mom?

Some times one does not use any language to think.. The thoughts are in the form of pictures, mostly such thoughts arise when you dream...

Some times the thoughts are not in any form.. In the sense they cannot be categorized into any language or pictures.. The place looked riecher than ever, and with more people than ever...

GOD: Hey...Why are you staring at me like that?

HE: What!!!!!!!!! Is it really the LORD, who has come down to speak to me..

GOD: I will answer that question finally, but tell me why are you staring at me.

HE: I was just thinking that these days people are worshipping you materialistically, your value depends on the locale you are present in, and you also seem to be covered with GOLD all over, and for every part that is left uncovered, there is a corresponding Donation Box for it. Pretty Wierd..I never knew you liked Gold so much.

GOD: People give me whatever they like...I don't ask anything.

HE: Yeah that's right, you don't give us what we ask, so we give you what you don't ask with the hope that you will change your mind and give us what we want.

GOD: You seemed to be stressed out.. Any issues?

HE: Firstly you create issues for everyone in this world, and then you innoncently ask if we have any issues? When you are prepared to resolve our issues, why do you have to create them in the first place.

GOD: I don't create any issues, I created only you people.

HE: That's the problem, your creation.. Why couldn't you create like minded people.. Then why would we all have to fight against each other, have difference of opinions with each other? Why do people want to show that they are superior than others? Why did you create us with the 6th sense?

GOD: I created everyone with 5 senses, but you guys think that only you have the 6th sense..Every living thing has a 6th sense, only that no one is willing to unserstand that the other person/animal too has a 6th sense.

HE: Ok Fine, Why did you create us?

GOD: Why do you create other animals through cloning? Why are you guys in search of life on other planets? Why are you people going towards re-creation of what ever existed earlier..

HE: You created us the mind and we are using it. Each one uses the mind as he wants and that's where the issue is. The superior person sets up the rules, and all just follow it.. You seemed to be a partial person, why do you create people with different intellectual level, and allow the superior to dominate the inferior ones..

GOD: I created everyone with the same so called IQ level, it is up to you guys to use it as much as you want..If you don't want to use them, then you think others are superiors to you.

HE: Why don't you accept anything?

GOD: Why don't you accpet anything I say.. How can you expect that I should listen to whatever you say, and act accordingly, if that is the case isn't that you are superior to me and trying to dominate me..

HE: !@#$%^&*().

GOD: Hmmm.. I just have a few minutes left, and I have to catch another client. I have a pretty hectic schedule these days..I am thinking of outsourcing my petiton Box. Do you know any good Call Centre who can handle this?

HE: How much will you pay? How many shifts do you want? What will be the yearly percentage hike? What plans do you have for the employees to retain them? Most importantly will there be any on-site oppurtunity?

GOD: I haven't decided on the answers for the first few questions. But definitely I will give you guys an on-site oppurtunity. Depending on your service, I will post you at hell or heaven. Ultimately that is where you belong to...

she...

The station was small and a beautiful place. Aiyappan song was playing in the air and the scene was very much what I had expected(read) of a typical Kerela town. All of a sudden "she" passed by me. I did not notice her, but she was studying me for some time, and went back and brought some of her friends/family members.. Oh Man..I just can't handle one, and now so many of them were near me, and also planning to surround me. I just looked around to see if anyone else was there.. But unluckily, no one was there.. I moved away from that seat and went to another seat that was 300 metres away.. But they just seemed to follow me..Hmm. They were taking advantage at my goodness. Back at home, when such things happen I usually advice people to ignore it, as any reaction will be against the "law of nature". But now I was loosing my control, and none of the preious principles made sense to me..I couldn't take it anymore.. whom I last saw 10 years ago, and would love to meet them next year..

2) try to think less... for example if you feel like not working a day, then I should just apply for leave, instead of thinking of the pros and cons of taking leave and finally go to work..

3) join a sport club, and also search a bakra who would play squash with me everyday.

4) i will invite my chotta cousins to bangalore and take them around the city.

5) i should get back to my touring mania, this year i was out only for 10 days..

6) Last but not least, i need to work on removing the negative/impure stuffs from me..
Back Again.....Yahoooooooooooooo

I am back again.. I it is a nice feeling to do something different and interesting with the Idiot Box. (The Idiot Box is not TV, but a _ _ ).

I have been under tremendous work pressure for the past few weeks, and hence couldn't interact you guys much.. It is still there.. But what the hell, It is time to just chill and relax....

Dec 2-4th:
I went to Sathyamangalam(thanks to veerapan, this town was in limelight whenever he killed/kidnapped anybody) to attend my cousins wedding.. I did not book any bus tickets, and hence I had to take the buses at every possible junction..(Bangalore ---> Hosur ---> Salem ---> Erode ---> Sathyamangalam) Guess what these days, TNRTC has DVD players with two portable TV's on either sides in each and every bus.. Watched quite a lot of movies on the way... How much the public enjoyed vadivellu, kaundamani ( I hate his silly comedy though.) and senthil's comedy.. It was nice to be with unknown happy people. I was introduced to each and everyone by my aunt who made it a point to tell everyone that I was working in ORACLE.. One uncle came and asked me, how much I save from my salary of Rs 'X' (exaturated).. By the time I could answer the aunt sharply said enough savings to start a family... Bull Shit..As I was shocked with her reply, another intervened and said his aunt's, daugther's neighbour works in Bangalore too and he earns (X + 20,000) and they were on and on..I could only smile at them, and as and when they bombarded me with Questions on Software, my aunt was merrily answering all the questions for me... Man how eager people are, to know the little secrets of others..(that includes me too..)

But the best part was spending time with two little nephews.. I always felt silly when elders ask the children to keep quiet, but Boy, id you don't will have to keep running after them for ever.. They made me run to each and every corner of the mandap... I got so tired running after them that I placed 10 chairs one on the other, and seated those naughty ones on the top most chair.

The best time in one's life is when he/she is a kid.. Absolutely no worries, just doing what they want to do...

Dec 10th-11th:
What a day Dec 10th was.. I will easily call it the day of 2005. Firstly it is always great to earn a weekend after 5 hard working days, rather then Kaal (TIME) granting you them.. Finally I managed to earn a weekend at the end of year.. :)

I had earlier decided to scan old photographs, update the Blog and sleep otherwise in the weekend.... But it was not to be... Thanks to Cricket.. 3 Matches in a day.. just too good to keep me busy..

Firstly New Zealand chasing Australia's mamoth target of 331. Vettori and Mccullam added 73 runs of 30 odd deliveries for the 10th wicket to make it a very special match...

Then Sachin Tendulkar, what a Player he is... Scored his 35th Century and made millions of his fans be proud of him.. It is these little little things that make your day.. When I saw an emotional Scahin in the Screen, I just couldn't take it... I made calls to all Sachin's Fans and shared the good moment...(This boomed by mobile bill for the month)

England thrashed Pakistan, a good entertaining match with big shots.. Ended the day with a Pasta at the Friends..

Sunday, lazed around in the afternoon and did shopping in the evening, and end of a good earned weekend.

Dec 17-18th:
Attended my ECE class get-together and it was fun meeting many of my old classmates. People hadn't changed much.(No one changes until, there is a change in priorities in life which is directly linked to finding a BF/GF) It was funny for me, as people were talking about old crushes...And especially talking about Steve's curshes before his Fiance. Oh man.. he was pretty emabarassed... I watched "Thillana Moganmbal" on my journey from Hosur to Chennai.. Padmini was absolutely stunning...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess it goes without saying that I was slogging each and every weekday of this month...
Waiting eagarly for the weekend..

Wishing you all "Merry Chirstmas" and have fun during this festive weekend!!!

Superstitions...

Super + Situation = Superstitions. :) (Thanks to Gandhe who made me realize this...)

Never have haircuts on thursday as it would be very inauspicious for your uncle(s).
Never cut your nails after 6 'o' clock..
oh no.. never get any registration form on a tuesday..
Never should a group of 4 leave the house..

The above are the stuffs which i used to religiously follow until I left chennai..

Below is the collection of the superstitions i have seen my friends follow..9especially during the exams)

1) My friend used to have only idly with tomato ketchup as breakfast on the day of every exam.
2) Some Avoid bathing during the Study leave between exams and be fresh(having a bath finally) on the day of the exam.
3) Some wear the same dress for all the exams.
4) Some sit in the same lucky seat(in the college bus) where he/she originally sat for some well written exam.
5) I used to receive a call at 7.30 am, from my friend during every exam.. I believe that this brought him luck once, and I had to speak to him everyday on the morning of the exam.
6) I used to grow my hair for 2 months before the semesters, and have a hair-cut on the eve of the first exam..
7) A few friends came to my house during evey semester and study atleast 1 unit of any paper to have a lucky start.
8) My brother's friends come home, and get wished by my mother before the exams..
9) My ex-housemate hated me, when I aksed him where he was leaving for?
10) one fellow used to steal my 2-mark Q&A on the eve of every exam. (Later I had to buy another one once i figured this out).
11) another friend would enter the toilet with another fellow just before the exam..This was hilarious...
12) I used to start writing the exam only after my friend, who sat before me started writing his exam.
13) Couple of other friends would come home and we would play Cricket for the whole day, and then later put up a schedule which we would never ever follow.. Later this became a superstition..

I wonder how many such idiotic crazy supertitions would be revolving in this world....

Quotes by Great Men...

Amazing Quotes...(Thanks Prof for the amazing site..)

Imagination is more important than knowledge..
Try not to become a man of success byt rather to become a man of value.

*&^%$#@!~-

Hmmm....
What a Bad week so far!!!!
India losing to South Africa, No work at Office, No TimePass at Home, Not a single Bakra I got this week...

Once Upon a Time I used to play the fool with all, irritate them to the extent I can, and embarass the innocent people before the world. It is a game that can be played with any age-group, and that too with just a pair of dice. Ideal game for having great fun.

The Game...

Pre-Requisites: one white Dice, one coloured dice, sheet of paper, pencil/pen.
No. of players: 3 or more. (Greater the number, greater the fun).

Player 1

Player 2

Player 3

Round 1

Round 2

Round 3

......

Round 10

Rules:

1) There are totally 10 rounds in the Game.
2) The sequence in which the players will roll the dice should be fixed initially.
3) In every round the 1st player,

Rolls the dice and the number that appears, gets added to the score for that particular round.

If both the dice show up the same number then you are score is doubled (if 3 + 3 = 6 *2 ) and added to the total for that round.

The player keeps rolling the dice and adds the numbers obtianed to his score.....

But If a colored 1 shows up on the dice, then your score for that round becomes zero, you lose your chance, and the next player gets the turn to roll the dice.

Alternatively the player can also quit the roundat any stage, and the score which was accumulated in that round is marked on the sheet. (But the other players should not allow the roller to quit the round, and hope that the roller get a colored 1)

4) The above step is done 10 times, and at the end of the 10th round, the score is totalled up and the player with the lowest score is the "Greedy Pig".

Result:

It is not only a fun game, but also will reveal the characteristics of various people.

<table cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" border="1" style="text-align: left;

195

232

From the above Table we can conclude that

"Player 1" is not keen on taking risks, he/she is satisfied with smaller outings.

"Player 2" is a big risk taking fellow, doesn't mind if he blown with zero-es in a few rounds but will keep going on till he his satisfied with his bigger achivement.

"Player 3" is a mixed-bag. He is kind of a watch, wait and try your luck..

Note: Anyone could win the game, not that the mixed-bag is considered to be the safer option. But I bet that the person who rolls the dice with the confidence wins the game eventually. If you fear of a "colored 1" the probability of you getting it is pretty high. :)

During my initial period of the induction programme, everyone were supposed to present something or the other independently. I had presented this Game to the janta, though it was hilarious to the janta the trainer who happened to be a "phirangi" did not understand a single word what i presented. I used to speak fast, not complete the sentence, dance around etc... After I saw myself in the Video, I made an effort to reduce the dancing and to speak slowly... Also I got into my first Team by explaining this game to my boss and also most importantly mentioning the fact that I did not know "ABCD of Computers..."

The Master is Back with a Bang....

What an innings... He is back to his best... His timing was perfect today, and he played all the shots in the book.. It was a delightful experience watching him bat today.. He went into the ground with a younger mind, and hence could he charge down the track in the 25th over....

Today's innings was full of positives... Hey people, you better not criticize him that he plays only for his centruy. At 93, he went after the bowling and got out... but by then the damage was already done the platform was set for others to slog...

Thanks Sachin, you made my Day today...

yet another day... but with a difference...

Once a year, my company organizes an event for the under-privileged/physically/mentally challenged children. We volunteers spend a day with them by playing games and teach them a couple of things, basically to make them feel happy.

This year we went to Ananya Trust, where 40 children lived and studied in the campus itself. Well the hostel is a single big room, and tents acting as classrooms. These children were grouped based on their abilities to learn and not on their ages/standards. It is a pretty interesting concept which I doubt, whether it work out in the longer run.

We 25 volunteers went in the Van to Ananya. We were all silent for a few minutes, waiting for someone to open a public discussion (Starting trouble!!!)...Finally somebody broke the ice, and from that moment, it was never looking behind... We were one cohesive unit till the end of the day.

As soon as we landed there, well I could sense the freshness in the air. Curious and smiling little kids were watching us from a distance. Obviously as earlier, again we had the starting trouble. A few simple easy games acted as the ice-breaker(s), and they soon started mingling with us. I always fancied myself, when it comes to moving with children. The best way to speak/move to/with them is, when you become one among them...A bigger kid....And today it was no such exception...

We had a good 2 hr lecture on First Aid, which was pretty essential for everyone... This is the first time I had known about the various First-Aid methods in my 24 yr existence on this planet. As soon as that got over, we served them lunch. It was fun serving lunch to them. We came to know their names during this process, and we forced them to come out of their shyness, and the cost we paid for it, was to run up & down the hall as they asked for various food items to be served. A cost which we all wouldn't mind paying :).They were all very happy with the food. And I was laughing to myself about the fact that this is the food, that majority of my company colleagues crib about. "You always realize the importance of a thing only when it is not available to you...."

After lunch, we played "Seven Up" till all except 20 were eliminated. These 20 were involved in "Passing the Parcel" game, and every loser in that game, had to do perform the act mentioned in the chits. They had to recite nursery rhymes, tell A, B, C, D backwards, sing, dance etc... They all did their acts/dares sportingly.

We followed it up with the 'Musical Chair", "Lemon-Spoon" and the balloon stamping game. As these games were going on, we came to know more about each child, the way they studied, and their lifestyle. The kids too enquired about the job we do, and our whereabouts.

Soon, there were 65 kids instead of 40, and there was running, laughter all over the place. In the evening, we had the prize distribution for the winners, and also a gift (one moral story book) to each and every kid. They also surprised us by giving us a 'diwali' card made by them.

As and when we were leaving many kids took some snaps with us and asked, when we would return, and all of us said the same answer "Very Soon"... I do not know how many of them really meant it, but it atleast made the kids happy...

This was my 3rd year at the GVD programme, and nothing has changed all these years... The atmosphere is as always simply superb. Isn't it true that the happiest moments in our life was when we were kids not worrying at anything at all?

It was all fun and frolic for the whole day, but there was one question asked by a little boy which is nagging me. He asked me "What should I do to become like you all?”. Well I told him "You need to score 90 percentile in your Higher Secondary Exams, which will get you into a good Engineering College, and work hard there to get
into Campus Recruitment"..

The fact is that these kids do not have the infrastructure to compete with the metro/tuition based private school kids, and even if they come out successfully in that race of mad exams, who guarantees them of higher education @college and on and on and on...

Well, I do not have a solution for this, but I have been thinking about this for quite some time now... Atleast we (so called the educated brilliants) should not look down at people who are economically or socially behind us.

"Live and let live"...

42 likes/dislikes....

Seven things you plan (wish I could) to do before you die

Travel every state in the Country and every country in this world.

Watch a Cricket match at Lords and MCG.

Follow the Indian Cricket Team during any overseas Trip(World Cup) and write articles on it.

To become a Lecturer.

Out of Space travel.

Father of twin children.

Gather a meet after 20 years with all my friends and family members.

  Seven things you can do

Do any adventure sports.

Irritate people to that extent, that they wouldn't like to see my face again.

Eat Groundnuts, peanuts, chat(s), puffed rice, corn available in the road side. For the past 6 weeks I didn't have a single free minute, and now I don't have a single busy minute. How life can change within a few hrs.. I wonder how life would be if this very minute the whole computer business vanishes and never returns. What would I be doing then? Perhaps a nomad?

"An Idle Mind is a Devil's Mind" --- Now how true is that? Let me analyze this statement.

Firstly who or what is a Devil? -- It is a person/thing, which does bad stuffs (or) does not follow the rules framed by the so-called good ones. Who decides what is good/bad, ethical/un-ethical in this world? And why do people think that rules framed earlier should always be followed and they are always good. Why don't anyone realize that there is nothing Good/Bad in this world. It is all about one's perception.

When a Mind is idle, what are the thoughts that conquer it?
The toughts that are present in your sub-conscious mind is what you experience first.

What kind of thoughts lie in your sub-conscious mind?
The toughts that you would like to put into action, but afraid of the society, as it might be termed as bad actions (or) refraining it from doing as it might hurt others feelings.

Why do we have to refrain from what we want to do? And why don't we realize what we have to do? Should we think and stick to what we have to do (or) should it naturally strike to us what we have to do?

Initially manhood strived for comforts, and basic upgradation of human life from caves to buildings. And now after everyone achieving it, everyone is driving towards Fame and Money. If you do not achieve any of the two then you might be termed as a loser. I really wonder what would be the driving force in this world, if everyone has sufficient money and all are famous.. Then what would people strive for? Conqering other planets?

If Dinasors existed a millian years ago, and we are existing now, who will exist another million years later? What was the driving force for the dinasors then? Or is it that they knew that some change is to happen on earth, and they all travelled in a space ship to someother planet. What if they return to end the human era.

"An Idle mind is one's true mind".

p.s: Can someone suggest me a good time-pass book to read?

Thank You.

An Article inspired by Gandhe. Please read his article here, before mine..

I was wondering what Gandhe would write in his next article..... This is the outcome.. read n enjoy...

It was a long journey from Chennai to US. I was afraid whether I would reach safely, but at the end thanks to the following people, I am able to write this Blog now.

Receptionist at the AirPort: What a smile she had on her face, and that too at the age of 50. I wish I could stay at the Airport, just admiring her, but I had to carry on if not I will miss other beautiful air-hostess.

Security Check Officer: She looked taller and well built than me, and obviously I was a bit scared. to my surprise, she put me inside the X-RAY cabin and they asked me to meet the Chief Security Officer as my body contained lots and lots of germs. I never knew I had germs, thanks to you who made me realize that I did have them.

AirHostess - 1 - When I boarded the flight, I remembered the Britney Spears song on the flight. But I found this AirHostess better than Britney. She looked like Ms. S. I enjoyed my flight journey mainly thanks to her..I kept eyeing her all the time, and took 4 glasses of red wine in the process.

Captian of the Flight - A Special thanks to him for driving me safely to US, especially with so many distaractions in the form of these Air-hostesses.

Co-Passesngers - A special thanks to them, to able to withstand my dirty smell, my body was producing now and then..

Flight -- Though non-living, a special thanks for it, for carrying me and my luggage safely.

And to All others --- The co-pilots, sweaper, the caterer who cooked the food, the mechanician, the other birds which gave way for this flight to move etc... I apologize for my bad memory.

It would not have been possible without the help from these people. This is a statement that I have read at many places. But, it is only now, that I know its meaning!

3500kms in 10 days by rail n road...

Check out the snaps here.

6 to 4 to 2 to where?

It was a Year ago, when Gandhe mentioned to me that we have to tour Rajasthan some time.. We were waiting for the right oppurtunity to visit the "Exotically Divine Palce on Earth"... One of our friend was getting married in Jaipur this June. Initially I rolled out a plan, based on this event, and to my surprise there there was 6 enthusiasts.. On the day of booking the Ticket, 2 backed out ( Aki n Mr. UK --what else do you expect lazy goozes) and the travellers number reduced to 4. Couple of days before the travel safer backed out due to work pressure. But One of the "Travel Lovers" Gandhe too backed out.. Was wondering why he did that, until I realized that he was eyeing an even bigger Travel in the near future.... So now it is reduced to 2. (Monu n Myself)....

I will reach Agra on Sunday Morning, and Monu will join me there(from Delhi).. Since none of us are planning to carry the Mobile, our communication will strictly be based on common sense, timing and punctuality.

We have an ideal start for this Tour, with Monu wanting to explore Rajasthan and I opting for Uttaranchal. Let's see where we reach at the end...

Pretty excited about the trip....A long waited trip is finally about to begun.....Now the burden of speaking to poeple regarding accomodation and other daily activities is on me, as only I can speak Hindi among the two. (Monu knows Bhojpuri, and people often don't realize the fact that he speaks Bhojpuri and not Hindi).

It's time for the Train....So catch you later....

Like Attracts & Unlike Repels.

It was in 9th Std, when I first heard the phrase "Like Repels, Unlike Attracts." That time I was busy memorizing facts, that I didn't have time to analyze it. Now 10 years later, I have found the time to analyze it.

Like Repels & Unlike Attracts.

Gender (Male/Female).

Magnets (North/South).

Like Attracts & Unlike Repels.

Employer/Employee

Studious Buddies sitting in the first row / Macho students seated in the last row.

One chooses friends initially, only when they find any similar characters.

Why would there be divorces for difference in opinions...If Unlike Repels, then why would anyone fight over anything.

Groups. - Similar Groups attract, other repel. Be it anything religion, caste, nationality.
